Privacy policy

We collect what we need to make you a dress and nothing else. We don't sell your data, we don't run advertising trackers, and we don't share your measurements with anyone outside the atelier. This page explains the detail.
Who we are
PiaPearl Pty Ltd, trading as Pia Pearl, based in Victoria, Australia. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us any time at piapearlservices@gmail.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Your account. Your name and email address, from Google sign-in or from a guest session. Guest sessions store no name or email at all.
- Your design. The choices you make in the studio, anything you type to Pia, images you upload, and the previews generated for you.
- Your measurements. Either a standard size, or the measurements you enter yourself, plus any fitting notes.
- Your order. Shipping address and phone number. We never see or store your card details — those go straight to Stripe.
- Messages. Anything you send through the contact or careers forms.
Information collected automatically
Standard server logs: IP address, browser type, and the pages you visited. We use these to keep the site running and to find faults. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
Why we use it
- To generate your design previews and hold your work between sessions.
- To cut, sew and ship a garment to your measurements.
- To take your deposit and the balance, and to issue refunds.
- To answer your questions and tell you about your own order.
- To keep records we are legally required to keep, such as tax records.
We do not send marketing email unless you ask us to, and we do not use your designs to promote the atelier without your written permission.
Who we share it with
Two service providers, each receiving only what its job requires:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, file storage, and the Gemini models that generate your previews. Your design data and images are stored and processed here.
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe receives your email, billing address and card details directly; we receive only a confirmation and the last four digits.
Beyond these, we share your details only with the tailor making your dress, only to the extent they need to make it, and where the law requires disclosure.
Where your data lives
On Google Cloud infrastructure, which may process and store data outside Australia. Both providers are bound by contractual terms requiring protections equivalent to Australian privacy law.
How long we keep it
- Order and financial records: seven years, as Australian tax law requires.
- Account and saved designs: until you ask us to delete them.
- Studio conversations: held for the browser session only, and not retained once you close the tab.
- Contact messages: two years.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act you can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct anything wrong, delete your account and its data, or send you a copy in a portable format. Email piapearlservices@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.
Deleting your account removes your saved designs and profile. We keep order and payment records for the retention period above, because we are required to.
Children
This service is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information; if we learn we have, we delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Database access is scoped so one customer's records cannot be read by another. No system is perfectly secure, and if a breach ever affects your data we will tell you and the OAIC as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy we update the date at the top. Material changes affecting how we use existing data will be emailed to account holders before taking effect.
Complaints
Write to piapearlservices@gmail.com first — we would rather fix it directly. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
