Begin from an occasion, a silhouette, or a sketch of your own. All three lead to the same atelier — it is only a question of how you already think about the dress.

Hem length, sleeve style, back, fabric and colour. Each option explains how it will actually look and what it adds to the price, so you are never picking from a name alone.

Ask what suits you, think out loud, change your mind. Pia answers in words when you are exploring and redraws the dress when you ask for a change — so brainstorming never costs you the design you already like.

- What is Pia Pearl?
- Pia Pearl is an online made-to-measure dress atelier based in Victoria, Australia. You design a dress by choosing its shape, length, sleeves, back, fabric and colour, refine it in conversation with a personal stylist, and then our tailors cut and sew that exact design to your own measurements. Finished dresses ship worldwide in two to three weeks.
- How is this different from buying a dress online?
- A dress bought online is made to a standard size and hoped to fit. Ours is cut to the measurements you give us, so the waist lands where your waist is. You also design it yourself rather than choosing from what happens to be in stock — the shape, cloth and colour combination you end up with may not exist anywhere else.
- How much does a made-to-measure dress cost?
- It depends on the occasion or silhouette you start from and the options you choose. Everyday dresses start around A$200 and bridal or gala commissions run into four figures. The price updates live as you design, so you always know where you stand, and we confirm the final quote in writing before anything is cut.
- Do I have to measure myself?
- No. You can pick a standard Australian size from 6 to 26 and give us your height, and we will work from that. Entering your own measurements produces a noticeably better fit, particularly for close-cut shapes like mermaid, trumpet and sheath, so we recommend it when you have a tape measure to hand.
- How long does it take?
- Designing takes minutes — the first preview appears in seconds and you can revise it as often as you like. Once you confirm the design, production takes two to three weeks from confirmed design, plus shipping to your address.
- What do I pay up front?
- A A$10 refundable deposit (US$10 outside Australia). It opens the commission and puts your design in front of our tailors. If we find your design cannot reasonably be made, you get it back in full. The balance is due only after you have approved the final design and quote.
